The PADI Scuba Diver Course is particularly suitable if you plan to conduct most of your scuba dives under the guidance of a professional dive guide. This course also acts as a stepping stone towards obtaining an Open Water Diver certification, should that be your end goal.
Upon completion of the PADI Scuba Diver course, you will be authorised to:
Engage in diving activities under the direct oversight of a PADI Professional, up to a maximum depth of 12 meters/40 feet.
Acquire air refills, lease or buy scuba gear, and partake in other dive-related activities, as long as they are appropriately supervised.
Progress in your dive training by completing the PADI Open Water Diver certification and pursuing specific specialty diver courses.
This phase can be conducted through eLearning, self-guided study, or traditional classroom settings. Its aim is to ensure you grasp the fundamental principles of scuba diving. In this stage, you'll cover the first three out of the five sections of the theoretical knowledge required for the Open Water Diver course.
This is where you start getting your feet wet, literally. You'll carry out the initial three out of the five dives from the Open Water Diver course, learning essential scuba skills in a controlled, confined water environment such as a swimming pool.
Finally, you'll get to apply what you've learned in real open water conditions. This phase involves completing two out of the four dives required for the Open Water Diver course. Here, you'll put your skills to the test and experience the thrill of exploring underwater.
In essence, the PADI Scuba Diver course gives you a solid introduction to scuba diving and equips you with the skills to dive safely under supervision, serving as a great foundation for further diving courses.
